LO1 Task 2 Analyse positive and negative effects on social media products

Positive
-Photo sharing platform that allows for social networking with friends and the world, leading to new friends and more exposure for the photographs.
-Inspires people to take photographs. People who may not usually be artistic or interested in photography may become more interested. Inspiring young people to get into art and take up new hobbies.
Negative
-Profile could be personally compromising if not set to private. All content posted is viewable by anyone on the internet if the account is not set to private to restrict access.
-No copyright laws meaning people can steal the users content. This theft of content may then be used to impersonate users. Or cyber bully.
Twitter
Positive
-Gives users a platform to speak their mind, and also communicate with others with the same ideas. Allows for a platform of networking people that want to see new things and connect with new people.
-Invaluable news outlet for young people who aren't in touch with media other than social networking.
Negative
-Anything said on twitter is around forever, could be used against a person in future career endeavors. If some content is compromising to an individual and is picked up during a background check for a job, this information may be used against the person.
-Twitter is sometimes used for illegal activity and the spreading of bad ideals.
Linked In
Positive
-Linked In can provide valuble career advancement. With new networking contacts in different careers, new job opportunities are easily available to users.
-Users network with not only new connections but old ones too. Re connecting with old acquaintances could be something a user desire, so linked In helps users do that.
Negative
-Not a very private user profile system. The profile system doesn't require much personal information to register making it an easy platform for fake accounts. These accounts could be used for illegal activities such as stalking and harassment.
